American Best Actor – Mark Lawson

Mark Lawson, born December 17, 1979, in Bristol, VA, is an American actor best known for his role as Brody Lovett in “One Life to Live”.

Lawson’s “One Life to Live” audition couldn’t have come at a better time. After five years of pursuing acting in L.A., he decided to allow himself just 10 more auditions before calling it quits. But in March 2008, he read for the role of Quinn (as Brody was then named) in L.A. and was later asked to take a screen test in New York. Well, audition No. 4 turned out to be the charm.

“You get the call and it’s like Ed McMahon came by to tell you you won the sweepstakes,” he recalls.

“I answered the phone and got the news from my manager and then I just kinda fell to my knees and started going, ‘What?!’ And then I ran outside and screamed, ‘What?!’ like all over West Hollywood. And 10 days later I was in New York.”

Prior to booking OLTL, Lawson worked as a personal strength coach when and guest- starred on Cold Case as a down- and- out boxer who gets killed in the ring. Every day, Lawson continues to train and coach, pushing himself and others to explore their own true potential.

His other passions include reading, writing, and his morning coffee. He credits his family for giving him the tools and self- confidence to pursue his dreams, no matter how outlandish they sometimes seemed.

American Best Actor – Carlos Guillermo Haydon

Carlos Guillermo Haydon, born March 25, 1976, in Caracas, is a Venezuelan actor.

Prior to embracing acting as a career, Haydon trained in Advertising and Marketing in the “Instituto Nuevas Profesiones.” In addition, he worked as a model in television commercials and fashion shows.

One day, his career path changed when he was discovered by an acting agent and invited to audition for a role in a TV show. He showed up for the audition with no idea what they wanted and when the producer saw his acting skills, he said: “You are the person that I am looking for …” That’s how his acting career started, landing an important role in the 1996 soap opera “Sun temptation.” Soon after, he was offered a scholarship to study acting at the Academy Luz Columba under the tutelage of renowned acting professor, Nelson Ortega.

Haydon then decided to audition for an entry in the prestigious Academy of Film and Television for RCTV, where he was selected. For three years, he’d trained to improve his diction, body expression, and acting skills.

His perseverance and hard work finally paid off, in which he quickly landed numerous top rating telenovelas in Venezuela, namely “Y los declaro marido y mujer” (2006), “¡Qué buena se puso Lola!” (2004) and “Trapos íntimos” (2002) that would catapult him to stardom.
